An Introduction to NUPSA

The objectives of NUPSA are to:
Identify and respond to the needs and concerns of postgraduate students;
Promote the development of a postgraduate community;
Promote the quality of postgraduate education; and
Ensure effective representation of the interests and concerns of postgraduate students.

NUPSA's purpose is to support and represent postgraduate students at the University of Newcastle. The executive is made up of students from the postgraduate body, willing to contribute time to NUPSA.
By a process of establishing and maintaining good relations with academic and administrative services within the University, the broader community, and other support groups, NUPSA provides an entry point into the University support service structure.

The executive committee members of NUPSA, being postgraduate students themselves, are keenly aware of the pressures of study and research, and as such are willing to listen to student concerns and attempt to provide practical advice and options where possible, to assist students in planning what action to take in response to their situation.

We provide a 'voice' for postgraduate students, not just in an official capacity but also by the publication of the regular NUPSA newsletter. The newsletter provides an opportunity for students to voice concerns, share the triumphs and tribulations of study, and most importantly feel connected to a community of students.

The focus of NUPSA’s role can be captured in three words: Action, Advocacy and Activities.
